Samsung’s latest foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, has been praised for its slimmer design, improved hinge, and large 8-inch inner display. But how durable is it in real-world use? A South Korean tech YouTuber decided to find out by folding the phone 2,00,000 times live on stream.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features Samsung’s new Armor FlexHinge, claimed to withstand over 5,00,000 folds under ideal lab conditions. However, the YouTuber’s continuous folding test – lasting over five and a half hours – placed the device under constant mechanical stress.

During the test:

  • At 6,000–10,000 folds, a “forced reboot error” appeared, repeating roughly every 10,000 folds.
  • At 46,000 folds, the hinge began making creaking noises.
  • At 75,000 folds, a mysterious black liquid leaked briefly from the hinge.
  • At 1,05,021 folds, the display crease deepened.
  • At 1,75,000 folds, both earpieces stopped working, and the hinge lost some elasticity.

Despite the wear, after 2,00,000 folds, the phone’s inner display showed no dead pixels, retained touch sensitivity, and remained functional apart from a slightly deeper crease. While it didn’t reach Samsung’s claimed 5,00,000 folds, the test proves the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can handle heavy daily usage.
